Eskdale

The village of Eskdale Green is situated in the Western Lake District within the picturesque Eskdale Valley.

Trough House Bridge

The valley has something for everyone from gentle riverside walks to some of the best climbing in the Lakes. Just twenty minutes away by car is the dramatic valley of Wasdale, home of Wastwater, the deepest of the lakes and Scafell Pike, the highest peak.

The Sea at Ravenglass and the Isle of Man

The Roman port of Ravenglass is only six miles away and is easily reached by a trip on the famous narrow gauge railway which runs through the Eskdale Valley from the tiny village of Boot all the way down to the sea.

In addition to the spectacular scenery and the many varied walks, nearby Muncaster Castle with its Owl Centre and beautiful gardens is a great place to visit and bird watchers will love the reserves at nearby Drigg and St Bees Head.

Hardknott

If you are feeling adventurous, the famous Hardnott and Wrynose passes with their steep hairpin bends, will take you on a memorable journey over to Langdale, Ambleside, Grasmere and Windermere. Look out for the remains of the Roman fort at Hardnott on the way.
