New Owners Settled in Well Since my previous review, Forest How has changed hands and this was my fifth visit since Corinne and Kate took over; they have settled in well. There have been subtle changes, of course, but both Corinne and Kate have been very friendly and helpful. The squirrels continue to thrive, but sadly Forest How lost three of its iconic pine trees to Storm Arwen, just hours after I left. The squirrels will have to adapt to their new surroundings. At least the pre-Arwen scene was captured, for posterity, by Dani Connor Wild, when she filmed in August.

Wonderful B&B in a relaxing location. I spent 2 nights in Forest How Guest House last week. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Kate is a lovely host, who can't do enough for her guests. My room was lovely, with an amazing view of the mountains. The best part was breakfast, with chats with Kate, and then watching the red squirrels feeding in the garden. I absolutely recommend Forest How to anyone.

Lovely b&b, friendly host, and red squirrels! I stayed at Forest How for 2 nights, I loved it! My room was clean and comfy and had an amazing view. Kate was really friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of it, and it was wonderful sitting there eating it in the conservatory dining room whilst watching the birds and red squirrels. There is a footpath right outside the garden gate so one day I left the car and walked alongside then up and over the top of Muncaster Fell, a lovely walk with fabulous views from the top. It's also easy to get to Stanley Force in Eskdale, where a walk through the trees takes you up to a viewing platform over the gorge near the top of the falls - looking down from the platform made my tummy turn over, it's not for you if you have no head for heights, but is very impressive if you have! The b&b is within easy walking distance of the Bower House pub, where I had a very tasty lasagne with garlic bread and salad. I'd highly recommend Forest How and fully intend to return there myself.

A peaceful spot We enjoyed a lovely weekend in this guest house. It’s in a very peaceful spot with red squirrels and lots of birds visiting the garden. The breakfast was delicious and the welcome was warm! Our bedroom was comfortable with great views from the window. Would recommend (especially as dog-friendly!)

Perfect stay - great new hosts What a fabulous stay. Great hospitality from the new hosts. Fabulous breakfast and comfortable rooms. Amazingly quiet, with great wildlife in the back garden. Red squirrels seen repeatedly and more than a dozen bird species, including Yellow Hammers, Thrush and Jay. Great, peaceful location convenient for the western lakes.

Great to be back! Due to Covid restrictions, my first visit since December 2020. Excellent service, as always and, with the exception of my arrival, dry and generally sunny weather; a bonus in Cumbria but then May and June tend to be the driest months. I had certainly been missing my Forest How breakfasts. As always, I was here for the squirrels and they did not disappoint; record numbers, and I have been monitoring them for almost nine years. Other sildlife sightings were a bonus, with deer, a hare, stoats, and a weasel all seen in or very close to the garden. Birds were many and varied and I saw tawny owls on two days.

Red squirrels for breakfast 😜 A nice, clean and comfortable guesthouse with welcoming hosts, in a beautiful, secluded location. A fantastic breakfast was served in the conservatory; where you are entertained by the red squirrels and multitudes of birds, just outside the window! Already wondering when we can return!

Business as Usual With Deb and Pete away on holiday, family members Jackie and Philip were running the guest house. The expected high standards were maintained on each day of my visit, which was slightly shortened by the Covid-19 lockdown. Despite the very wet and windy weather, the guest house provided a warm and welcoming refuge when I was not outside monitoring the red squirrels. Great news, I saw twelve different squirrels during my visit!

Forest How weekend We only stayed at Forest How for the weekend but would live to have stayed longer. Our hosts did an excellent job in spite of all the Covid regulations. Very comfortable room with a lovely view. We enjoyed watching the red squirrels and the deer. Breakfast was scrumptious. We would recommend ForestHow
